MUMBAI: RTL Germany, Europe’s largest private broadcast corporation, is all set to launch the first global German-language channel.
The channel is named RTL International. It will launch on 18 January in multiple countries, including Canada, Australia, Israel, Georgia, South Africa and Nambia.
A pay channel, RTL International will launch in the US in February. RTL has already signed distribution deals with Canada Bell, Charter Communications in the US and FlipTV in Australia.
RTL International will tap 10 million Germans living abroad. These Germans usually do not have access to a linear German TV channel.
The channel will air live TV news, drama series and soaps, and magazine and entertainment shows.
RTL International will also be made available for streaming online and through its in-house app.
