MUMBAI: Kannada infotainment channel Saral Jeevan is launching five new programmes in the Diwali week.

Starting 24 October, Saral Jeevan will air three new weekday and two weekend programmes.

The three weekday shows are ‘Anthima Dinagalu’ (Those Last Days), ‘Wide Angle’ and ‘Mane Aduge’ (The Cookery Show) while the weekend shows are ‘Kote Helida Kathe’ (Stories of Forts) and ‘Navu Nammavaru’ (We and Our Society).

‘Anthima Dinagalu’ (Those Last Days) will look at the epic stories and decode the mysterious and insightful ‘those last days’ of legendary personalities from stories like Mahabharata and Ramayana. The show will air from Monday to Saturday at 9 pm.

‘Wide Angle’ will present insightful true stories with historic significance. While some are amazing facts, others are major stories that have been drawing world’s attention for long.

Giving a broader perspective on the issue and presenting a 360-degree version of the story is the crux of the programme. The show will air Monday–Friday at 9.30 pm.

‘Mane Aduge’ (Home Made Food) is a cookery show that will offer viewers an insight into dishes that can be cooked in a jiffy. Unlike regular cookery show where anchor and celebrity takes over the programme, ‘Mane Aduge’ is unique and the focus is only on the food and the joy of making it. It will air Monday–Saturday at 1.30 pm.

Airing every Saturday at 9.30 pm, ‘Kote Helida Kathe’ (Stories of Forts) will present historic stories from forts. Many noted, small and big forts are shot in details to present to the viewers of Kannada.

‘Navu Nammavaru’ (We and Our Society), which will telecast every Saturday at 9.30 pm, will look at the lives of the Pourakarmikas, auto drivers, BMTC bus drivers and conductors, barbers, police and teachers. The programme is about understanding the life of these communities and presenting unseen side.

“Our programmes are inspired by Indian heritage and culture. Since the launch this February, viewers have liked our approach of differentiated Indian content. Today our brand credibility is high and loyalty is growing. Viewers want to see more such content. New programmes will surely further strengthen our viewership,” said Saral Jeevan business head Raghunatha Reddy.

Saral Jeevan telecasts non-fiction programming with a focus on mythology, history, travel and insights from Indian heritage and culture. The channel philosophy is to present inspiring, motivational and factual content that is positive in nature. It is a full-fledged satellite channel available across MSOs in Karnataka.
