Sasural Simar Ka is a story of Simar (Dipika Samson) who sings her grief’s away while she does what she wants to do best, ‘Dance’. Brought up in a middle class environment in Aligarh and enriched with traditions and values, Simar is far from achieving her dreams. Her over-protective father Jamnalal (Pankaj Dheer), who she adores and respects, is against her pursuing deepest desire. He does not let his daughters watch TV for long, but somehow they manage to with the help of their neighbours. He only lets them watch TV for an hour and that too only a news channel. This upsets Roli (Avika Gor), Simar’s younger sister. When Jamnalal makes a plan to go to Gaushala with family for Sunday outing, Simar’s Bua (Himani Shivpuri) and Roli make a plan to watch cinema without telling Jamnalal. Jamnalal is shocked when he comes to know from his neighbours that his family had gone to watch a film.

Colors has decided to take Star Plus head-on at the 7.30 pm band.

Starting 25 April, the channel is launching a light-hearted daily soap, Sasural Simar Ka. The show will be in direct competition with genre leader Star Plus’ Sasural Genda Phool, another light-hearted daily soap.

Colors programming head Ashvini Yardi says, “Sasural Simar Ka reflects a new social wave where a young woman is suppressed in her maika and is in a dilemma of her new life at her sasural and her ongoing passion to dance. In the society we live, while this may be a minority, we hope to replicate and relate the story to households and young women who are faced with a similar situation where their ambitions and passions are jeopardized. I am sure the show will break through the clutter on the conventional melodrama and ensure a content experience to the viewers.”

The show, produced by Sunrise Productions, will replace Rishton Se Badi Pratha which was launched on 15 November.
SRK to enter Sasural Simar Ka

Sunrise Productions’ Sasural Simar Ka that is tipped to be loosely based on Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) will have the original heartthrob on the show. It is heard that SRK will be making a guest appearance on this show. After having hosted a couple of shows on Indian television which includes his latest stint on Zor Ka Jhatka the actor will now be seen in the recently launched show. Unfortunately SRK’s small screen appearances have not received the same response as that of the big screen.

A source says, “SRK shot for a scene yesterday and this episode will go on-air next week.

“He will be shown judging the Chak Dhoom Dhoom auditions where Simar will perform. He will have a short conversation with Simar wherein he will praise her for her performance.”

Our source further adds, “This could be a promotional event for his upcoming movie Ra. 1 but nothing is confirmed yet.”

Dipika Samson aka Simar says, “I am not the right person to talk about this but yes, there is a surprise in store for the audience.”

Producer Rashmi Sharma remained unavailable for comment.

It's 'Game up' for Khushi as she lands in jail in Sasural Simar Ka

Simar (Dipika Samson) and Roli (Avika Gor) who always knew the real face of Khushi (Jyotsna Chandola) in Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka (produced by Rashmi Sharma Productions) have been forced to keep quiet just because Khushi is carrying Simar’s child in her womb. But it looks as though Lady Luck is not favouring Khushi anymore, and all her misdeeds come to the notice of the entire Bharadwaj family.

Yes, you heard it right!! Khushi’s game is up and she will soon be sent packing to the jail by her family members. So how does this whole drama open up?

Well, it’s Khushi’s birthday and Sankalp (Abhishek Sharma) and others in the family have planned a party. For the uninitiated, Roli had earlier recorded the confession of Khushi in a USB drive and this is accidentally played by Prem (Shoaib Ibrahim) and he goes to argue with Khushi when Simar stops him, saying that Khushi is carrying their child. Prem even after knowing the truth keeps quiet but destiny has something else in store for Khushi. Sankalp who is looking for a USB drive with songs (to be played at Khushi’s party) in Siddhant’s (Manish Raisinghania) room, by mistake takes the drive in which Khushi has confessed. The whole family is shocked to know about the confession coming from Khushi. This is when Simar and Roli muster courage to speak out and this result in high-voltage drama. Finally, Mataji (Jayati Bhatia) slaps Khushi and orders the family to take Khushi to the police station. Eventually Khushi is put in the jail.

Now it is to be seen whether the mother in Simar forces her to save Khushi by going against her own family.
