Explorer – 1---- America---- January 31 – 1958---- Only for US Navy purpose
Echo -1---- America---- December 19 -1958.---- Satillite with single up/down link
Tiros -1 ---- America---- April -1960 ---- First polar orbit satellite.

Telstar -1---- America---- July -10-1962 ---- The first satellite able to broadcast TV signals.
Telstar -2---- America---- 1963----- First experimental geosynchronous communications satellite
Intelsat - 1 ---- America---- 1965---- First truly global commercial satellite service.
Intelsat -3 ---- America---- 1969---- Another global commercial satellite service.

Anik -1---- Canada---- 1972---- World's first domestic communications satellite
Westar -1---- Western union---- April -13 1974---- The first United States domestic communications satellite
Intelsat – 4A---- America---- 1975---- First used dual polarization transponder

As the decade of the '80's began, satellite technology had become a technology definitely acceptable to business and science.

Second generation geo communication satellites were hybrids of C-band and the higher frequency Ku-band (centered at MHz) technology (it was Telsat that launched the first commercial hybrid satellite).

Ku-band technology allowed the use of smaller diameter satellite antennas for video reception and opened the market for satellite delivered private data networks called VSATs (very small aperture terminals)

Now a days Hundreds of Satellites from 3 E to 0.8 W , with many more Thousands of Transponders.
