Hotstar Head Clearly Said About Indian Audience

Euro 2020, Copa América and more recently Tokyo 2020, is Disney+ Hotstar losing its steam? Rayan thinks not, “We are very focussed on the mass Indian audience. I don't think we want to be singing and dancing to everybody, instead on things that really get people’s attention.” As per the Omdia report, SonyLiv had a subscriber base of 2.7 million as of 2020.
I am talking about India itself. Now they only offer Moto GP and livestream of Eurosport. Soon we can expect more live sporting content.

Meanwhile Sony is using Cricket properly. I don't recall watching much highlights of Gabba Test on Sony's channels recently. They are telecasting it on Independence Day. That's how you are supposed to use existing archive by keeping it for special occasions. Instead of keeping it on repeat mode.

Sony too airs india matches or other countries cricket mostly on 2 chs. You cannot compare Sony's catalogue of India's historic cricket wins with star sports, latter has enormous archive but former has quite less hence sony has to select special slots for it while star sports can air range of such matches on all days....it is same like sony max airs 1 bollywood movie on weekdays and few on weekends and people say they use it properly or have excellent scheduling but fact is they cannot air popular bollywood films all day as their library is small compared to star/disney which can air multiple bollywood popular films all thru week.

Similarly plz do not compare why u r not getting range of sports now with so many chs but in 90s or early 2000s it was awesome.... As i have said content cost, competition has gone up and earlier BCCI cricket rights were with DD which received money to air matches (imagine it with now) while private channels had lot of finances to buy various sporting rights

These r vastly diff tangents, comparison is futile

When did BCCI rights started being available for private broadcasters? Who owned rights before Nimbus bought it in 2006?

Yes i also Taking about Indian OTT and Sports, Sunil Rayan Head of Hotstar, Hotstar Focused On Mass Audience Sports, whereas Discovery + flop Because Lack of Mass Audience sports

Doordarshan was paid to air india matches pre private broadcasters bidding era

Eurosport is an excellent channel if u r multi sports buff but to succeed as star or sony do a balance of mass audience sports and niche sports needed

Q1. Who was the first private broadcaster who acquired the rights and for what amount?

Q2. Did BCCI gained from ad money of Doordarshan?

I think Neo Cricket was the 1st one

I believe no. Doordarshan must have kept ad money with itself or can b some sharing model too...need to research this

You cannot say Discovery+ is a flop show. Service is still is in infancy stage. Yet, offers the highest frame rate among all streamers. I don't have knowledge about fps. So, I wouldn't blindy say 60 fps. @Lakshay Yadav bro can confirm.
