Should Sports Networks have Regional Channels?

SPN is the clear example that there is a market for sport which is beyond cricket. They took a big risk by keeping their sports channels almost 95% of their bouquet. Yet, they are earning enough to have most number of sporting events in their channels. They pretty much got all sports covered. Meanwhile Star is overshadowing it's own sporting properties with too much of cricket and pushing other sports to Select channels. On paper they got the biggest sporting events possible. Be it Wimbledon, Formula One, One Championship or Premier League, ICC, BWF, FIH along with all of BCCI's rights including IPL. They just don't know how to use anything over cricket. At this rate they need to have a rebrand of all channels back with having two Star Cricket channels. One with Hindi and other with English feed. Bring ESPN as a third channel. A sole Star Sports channel needs to be there. Like it was in 2000s which can have many regional feeds as well. Cricket fans will be happy to get their old Star Cricket back. And other sports lover can appreciate ESPN and Star Sports channels. 4 channels are more than enough for sports. If too many events airing. They can put a Star Sports block on Star Cricket English and air the sporting event. It's time to rethink. Numbering thing is currently attracting nothing but criticism when cricket is given most of the airtime.

Strange things happening in 2022
ATP 250 rights with Eurosport but live on Sony
BWF tv rights with star but event live on Sony
Kya sab kuch sirf sony pe dikhega
The ATP 250 that Sony is broadcasting is part of the Australian Open Series. So as they have the Australian Open rights, they are broadcasting these matches as well. However, they won't be broadcasting other 250 events later in the year.

india will tour Bangladesh and west indies in 2022

Discussed many times earlier too in detail, there us vast difference between earlier 90s or 2000s broadcast rights scenario and now. Earlier it was quite easy to have big ICC, BCCI or other sports major events rights alongwith various other sports properties and give proper airtime to them but now with indian cricket rights cost touching such a peak, it will b difficult for any broadcaster to recover such amount thus u have a scenario where on star sports cricket supercedes everything else.
I understand from consumer perspective this is irritating but for things to change lot needs to change.... Right from tv rights price of major properties remaining affordable or viable to people changing their viewing habits which will lead to other sports getting more space on sports chs even when having major cricket rights

ATP rights have been shared earlier too like MotoGP was for sometime. Also i think ATP 250, 500, 1000 rights r sold separately. Same goes for BWF, their rights might b sold separately for diff tournaments or quite possible sony has renewed rights this year onwards

Any news about F1 and French open tennis tv rights
Star Sports F1 rights are ending after 2022 season. 2016-2022 is the deal. 2023 still don't know. Formula 1 popularity is increasing rapidly after crazy 2021 season. Also Netflix feeding "Drive to Survive " to Gen Z creating interest among younger audience which don't have tendency to sit in front of TV for even 1 hr . There is big chance that they will continue with Formula 1. They have Formula E then it make sense they keep F1 also. What they gonna show on TV in the name of Live sports other than cricket.
