Promotion of Hockey World Cup in between a cricket match on Star Sports 1 HD Hindi.

Viacom - Jio entry into sports market has made Star Sports go into soul searching.

They have been promoting / showing ads of major non cricket sports properties during ad breaks of live cricket matches since a very long time .... Way before sports18 channels were even conceptualized hence it is not like Star Sports trying to do any changes bcoz of competitor's content strategy.

Star Sports all thru the dat does air lot more variety of sports on Star Sports Select Channels with cricket highlights just airing 1 or 2 hours in a day on these channels, that too gets cancelled many times if some important live non cricket sporting events or programs are scheduled.

Also other channels of Star Sports air lot of different sports despite immense pressure on disney-star to recover high investment made on India Cricket, IPL, ICC events.

Star Sports Select channels r flagship channels created for providing non cricket sports. Earlier u were saying that they r airing FIH Hockey World Cup on Star Sports Select 1 which u termed as not being a flagship channel but this is untrue. They r airing this sports event on Star Sports Select 1 as well as with Hindi Commentary on Star Sports First which is perfect strategy...had Star Sports 1/2/3 been free thru entire course of FIH Hockey World Cup then these channels would have aired the same, no point airing matches on different channels on different days thus making viewers subscribe to additional channels and even cause inconvenience / confusion.

Sports18/Voot Acquired NBA and Laliga Rights for limited period in India, whereas in US ESPN acquired these Rights for long term.

Now this proves your bias. Have you ever seen any Premier League, Wimbledon, F1 Racing or even hockey ads during cricket on Star Sports channel? Nope, it's always ISL or Pro Kabaddi League ads. You can't digest the fact that someone apart from Star can inspire change.

Name atleast five other events main channel airs apart local leagues and cricket. Apart from Wimbledon due to Sony dominating summer months in sports content. And some odd Premier League matches on SD only channel Star Sports 3.

They skipped Premier League on Star Sports Select 1 matches for IPL dugout which ironically they cancelled last year. They aired non India featuring South African cricket on Select channels.

On top of that don't viewers confuse when Cricket World Cup matches airing on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD. Along with movie channels Star Gold and Star Gold HD. Let's not forget countless regional Number 1 channels.
