Bhai, how will I read such a long post?! :skd: It may be the longest you have ever written.

With the level of expertise you have on these matters, I strongly believe that you have it in you to write articles on your opinion on many of these matters. More than anyone else, I have seen it in you, because like me, you love to share your valuable opinion on these things. I feel articles are a better format for you to express your thoughts.

Hi dada, thanks for your kind words and appreciation. I really value them. These days many members just do not acknowledge any effort i put in to have a good discussion on various topics but rather just somehow try to interpret my posts in a wrong manner.

I prefer expressing my opinion thru posts as it helps have a good counter exchange of views with others though i shall keep ur suggestions in mind and in future try to write articles too. Although i must state that it feels saddening and hurtful that despite always trying to do right thing i am criticized and some members tend to simply mock my contributions. I have never participated in discussions or engaged in discussions to get some rewards or promotions rather despite being disrespected and demoted multiple times i have continued to follow/ abide by principles of honesty, respect towards others views and helping everyone as much as i can but still least i request is members is to not level baseless allegations which try to downplay my integrity, dignity. This is another reason why i feel that though i may write an article but still if i am always questioned for no reason and my contributions r discredited then to an outsider or a new member what value would my article hold, they would simply read all the comments and build wrong perception of me. I cannot be defending myself and answer same questions/ allegations on a daily basis :(

Buddy, firstly Star India (under Fox ownership) bought the IPL rights at a very high price. They did bring in many new innovations on both TV as well as Hotstar platform for streaming of IPL and invested a lot in improving the viewing / immersive experience . Now when they have invested so much on a sporting property they have to at the same time think about ways to recover all the money and earn profit. Even right now Disney-Star has bought TV rights of IPL for a very high and so has Jio/Viacom18 for acquiring digital rights of IPL but both will have somewhat different strategy to make a success out of it
Can you highlight any specific innovation of Hotstar? I don't recall any. I even struggled to watch last year's final on Hotstar on 100Mbps internet plan. I ws on ₹1499 the highest available plan. Even at high quality I got pixelated stream even on a mobile device.
So let me clearly state that TV as well as OTT/Digital medium posses no threat to each other....both have tremendous potential to grow without in any major way adversely impacting each other. This holds particularly true for events/content viewed by extremely large section of population. IPL as an event enjoys viewership from mass as well as affluent / niche audience so it is bound to get great ratings be it on TV or OTT platform.
I would agree with on this. Until Jio started offering completely free. Having two broadcaster will hurt ad revenue. Look at this graph. Just see the market share of digital ads over television ads. Tournament is getting longer. Most non hardcore cricket fans will lose interest midseason. Which will hurt Star even more.
