Can you highlight any specific innovation of Hotstar? I don't recall any. I even struggled to watch last year's final on Hotstar on 100Mbps internet plan. I ws on ₹1499 the highest available plan. Even at high quality I got pixelated stream even on a mobile device.

I would agree with on this. Until Jio started offering completely free. Having two broadcaster will hurt ad revenue. Look at this graph. Just see the market share of digital ads over television ads. Tournament is getting longer. Most non hardcore cricket fans will lose interest midseason. Which will hurt Star even more.

I will reply to the rest of your post. It is too long for me to read and reply. I will reply after some time.

Buddy, Star Sports did try many new things be it Dugout on TV or on the app too they brought in many features for fans to interact or react...there were contest, quizzes too. Infact on Hotstar one could access real time performance data of players and various other things. 4K streaming was even tried by Star Sports for events like CLT20 or even ICC World Cup but it did not generate much interest, as i have said 4K has niche appeal and may prove to be successful on OTT but i am unsure if high investment it requires can be recovered easily unless premium subscription fee is charged by the platform.
Also not to forget it was Star Sports which started to air IPL in dedicated regional sports channels with customised pre/post match shows, previously Sony just provided multi audio feeds on a single channel but scorecards , pre/post match shows were in English/Hindi....Also i believe implemented this too quite late and it was not available for all matches.

Ad Revenue for IPL is not an issue, brands do reserve their spending and buy slots on both TV and OTT platforms in order to reach out to their target audience. Incase low ratings r observed then both broadcasters/OTT platforms and advertisers may revise ad slot rates but still ads will continue to be there. If on coming years ratings start dwindling and advertisers show less interest tp buy ad slots during IPL then broadcasters themselves will request BCCI to reduce the broadcast/digital rights pricing of IPL

Half of Digital Rights holder Advertising inventory Sold as per CPM, they will earn huge revenue if most of users watch match for 2 to 3 hours or whole match with different targeted Ads to some users, but watching only 10/30 minutes they will gain nothing. whereas almost television advertising sold with package.

This time more people watches on digital except knockouts, highlights will play crucial for digital.
