Some members r stating that Jio has all the financial as well as other resources and can provide IPL in 4K or with other features for free not worrying about losses....we also need to be aware of that Star India is one of the biggest and most successful broadcasters in India and it is owned by Disney which again is a company of huge scale with diversified business across media as well as other fields hence although Disney-Star knows it is of utmost importance to have a strategy wherein they can recover all the investment incurred in buying rights of IPL and other massive costs involved in producing pre/post match shows, hiring commentators / hosts and paying their salary, various logistics / satellite / operational costs etc. thereby aiming to gradually earn profits but at the same time if need be they will put the best foot forward and match up with Jio so as to reach out to maximum audience base providing them best viewing experience. All i want to state is that they can easily counter all the plans made by Jio if they think same can benefit them or help not lose their audience base to Jio.
Disney surely is more cautious as compared to Fox in going overboard with spending on rights of sporting properties or even keeping other costs in control but when need arises to push the peddle on spending for a good reason then they will not hold back on the same. I am quite sensing that we might get Star Sports channels for Free during IPL and even get host of other atrractive features like some active/interactive services enabled on such channels to access features like multi cam viewing, real time data about players/ match etc.
