SA rights was a disaster only for Star. Sony was very successful with it. Star was incompetent to promote the SA matches properly and ended it being a complete failure
This will repeat with Australia rights. Expecting poor promotion of Ashes and non India series. I hope I am wrong here though. Sony also did injustice to BBL and WBBL in it's last cycle.

Viacom now has continuous action of cricket .
Feb-Mar- WPL
Mar- may - IPL
June - july - MLC
Aug-oct- RWS
Dec- Feb - Sa20

and BCCI + SA rights will be enough cricket portfolio.
Viacom had BCCI rights with them ??

Who did production of Reliance IMG or Star? The quality always looked like Star Sports presentation.

Anna,,let it be. Such comments which just criticise Disney-Star for all things won't stop. Anyways let us focus on more constructive discussions rather than indulging in such unnecessary debates

Most of matches not aired after Ten takeover, maybe broadcaster can't pay for all matches be it Ten, Star, Neo or Sony.
Yes, on Ten Sports.
CSAs Media Rights Value gone down, there are lot of reasons their Board politics and few home matches, be CSA men or women popular players retiring at young age. yesterday they lost important international match against Current poor team like West indies in their own ground.

Also Their Media Rights Value already down, Can't compare with huge value ECB/CA Media Rights. nobody interested Acquire or Renew for high/low amount be it Ten, Sony or Star. Unless new player like Jio/Sports18 Acquire just to increase their content portfolio

Let's decode the stupid marketing strategy of IPL by Star. Star's point is streaming is expensive because mobile data which comes complimentary with most telecom plans is expensive to stream IPL. Meanwhile when Star brought the streaming rights in 2014 to stream IPL for StarSports.com. It would take your extended family's entire year's salary to stream IPL using mobile data when data was not necessity, cheap or a commodity. It's stupid and ironic to talk about data prices now when we got some of the most cheapest data prices in the world.

If I was Star I won't even mention the streaming platform. Because as a viewer Disney+ Hotstar would be the place I would first think about when I want to watch IPL. I would use studio, review and watch along shows on Hotstar pushing viewers to my TV channel. Lastly I would want Jio to come to me for ad-slots to promote their stream. We could co-exist peacefully. But we had butcher this. We go attacking each other like news channels does for rating. Creating an ugly atmosphere for advertisers. Instead of going at them with data. We will go at it with opinionated article and stupid PR campaigns. Right now no one's giving free publicity to free stream of JioCinema than Star.

Being oblivious or having an enclosed opinion about things is not the right thing, it is good if we try to actually find/decode how things actually work before making comments.
There is an unstated rule in broadcast industry that any channel in a particular genre will not advertise / not allowed to advertise on a rival network channel of the same genre. So u will not see an ad of movie premiere on Star Gold on Zee/Viacom18/Sony Hindi Movie Channels and vice versa. Hence here as IPL TV Rights r with Disney-Star so it would never air ads promoting "IPL on Jio Cinema" on Disney+Hotstar App...same would also not happen on Star Sports channels similarly Sports18 will not air any ads about IPL on Star Sports Network and so will not happen on Jio Cinema.

Coming to ur point about promotional strategy adopted by Disney-Star, well ofcourse they will try to attract advertisers and viewers telling them about benefits of watching IPL on traditional TV medium same ways like Jio Cinema is saying that watching IPL on TV is outdated. There is nothing wrong in this. Fact is both TV and OTT have its own audience and scope for growth and broadcasters r just trying to promote it so as to attract viewers/advertisers and stop/reduce the churn which may happen from TV to OTT or vice versa for IPL.

Also FYI Disney+Hotstar has been producing review or special studio shows for sports events it does not hold rights of and this has been the case for a long time . You seem to be not aware of it which is strange and as u always state that u keenly follow content available on Disney+Hostar
