Hathway Cable & Datacom, DEN Networks, and Gujarat’s dominant operator GTPL Hathway—are threatening Disney Star that they will remove Star Sports channels from their base packages.

Reliance Industries Ltd, which has a controlling stake in Viacom18, the digital media rights holder for IPL, owns a majority stake in DEN and Hathway, and an indirect 28% stake in GTPL Hathway.

GTPL Hathway’s website shows that from 1 April, its base pack (Power Lite Pack), which costs ₹325 per month, will not include Star Sports channels.
India is moving in path of USA. Great 👍

They said Boring TV. now these things hurt back them, So what is the future of the 59 TV channels which operated by Reliance/Viacom18:lol:

Viacom/paramount has sticked on for a long time saying cable is not dead, and will continue to survive for more years.

Also Disney is advertising internet cost is high and not feasible lets see what they will advertise for hotstar without IPL and HBO

Yeah Viacom18 half parent Paramount/Viacom statement is right here, but not Reliance/18. in that Gaurav laghate article rival broadcaster person mentions they also have TV Rights to the WPL, CSA home, SA20 league. they are riding on two horses at the same time and the conundrum is how to land safely.

STAR should offer IPL as free to all networks, but some DTH might gives as complimentary.
Already their channels available on all combo packages, one company block their channels before IPL from packages. But Star here smart they already know these tactics like threatening/blackmail from one big company, that's why they well prepared most of channels price is variant.

Looks like it's not IPL Broadcasters war, brand sponsors fight. One company already burn finger after seeing rival broadcaster had onboard sponsors like Airtel and big soft drinks brands Coca cola, Pepsi/mountain dew. same company ahead of oldest soft drink brand relaunch during IPL big way.
