Telecom users are getting hurt most from free IPL. No way our operators can handle half a billion expected traffic specially during peak hours. Not does all areas has 5G. Nor does most moblile users have 5G enabled handset.

Yeah! When Jio offers free internet+calling then u and some other members call it a great step and they r able to handle all the massive traffic quite well ....though there had been hiccups there too but i do not see any comments against it by u/some other members.

Now u say telecom users cannot manage such high traffic and do not want people to stream IPL for free via Jio Cinema which is again a totally incorrect assessment. 1stly telecom operators want more people to use data as it beings them revenue, 2ndly there won't be such huge viewership which would cause any major issue in their network as most people would not be streaming entire match on their mobile so the traffic would go up and down...those streaming entire match via broadband too will be few in numbers and such traffic can easily be managed by operators

On Hotstar, the highest peak concurrent viewership for IPL was in 2019, 18.6M.

Let's put it x3, 55.8M. I think they'll be able to handle it even if it hits the peak.

FIFA WC Final was viewed by 32M on JioCinema.

Don't know why you guys arguing on airtel, Star Sports clearly mentions it's Airtel 5G on their IPL promos. It's not about airtel DTH/Broadband Ads currently.

#1 Except for inter connection port issue with other operators which got resolved in January 2021. Jio never had any problems during it's trial period.

#2 Imagine everyone streaming on 4G at the same time. I clearly said expected traffic. It will take a toll specially on smaller operators like Vi and even other circle based operators like Airtel. There 5G coverage is also limited as compared to Jio.

Hahaha! Do u know how much they r investing in expanding/upgrading its mobile + broadband network and in both areas they r growing at very good pace. You just seem to somehow make comments which r against airtel but as their services r good hence larger public r joining/using their various services
Just because you don't use Airtel doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.
Airtel's 4G network is down in the dumps since they started to give 300GB 5G to users.
Stop acting like a paid employee of Airtel.

There will no issue buddy, just wait n watch. Operators would themselves made preparations for handling more traffic during IPL

I use airtel broadband, DTH, Mobile services since last 18 years (mobile + broadband) and 14 years (DTH).

I am not acting like employee but giving true/balanced opinion based on my experience as well as of those using airtel services around me

Sure, balanced = defending corporates forever.

This is the most flawed argument i have ever heard. Why would a mobile operator not want more people to stream various sites/content using its own network ....it actually benefits them as data consumption by users brings more revenue as voice calling is not that attractive anymore. Also 2nd part of argument has no connection with the comment u made above as to why airtel fiber has tied up with star sports over Jio Cinema, they advertise on both TV and Digital to attract new customers to all its businesses (mobile, DTH, Broadband) and bringing them under Airtel Black portfolio bring advantage to company as well as end user.

Tying up for a big event like IPL as a sponsor on TV or Digital is just part of brand strategy, all companies evaluate options and choose what they think is best one.
They want to counter Jio/ Jio cinema with Star Sports 4K free only in ADTV, so they prefer TV over Digital.
