Star India’s Hindi movie channel Star Gold is
claiming to have broken all records by witnessing 74.5
million people across the country tune into the premiere of
the film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ on 11 October.

The premiere garnered 25 million TVTs, states the
channel, in the Hindi Speaking Markets (CS 4+ Urban and
Rural. In fact, as per BARC data for week 41, Star Gold
took the top spot in the Hindi Movie Channels genre on
the back of a surge in ratings due to the premiere of the
Salman Khan starrer.

Star India Hindi Movie Business GM and EVP Hemal
Jhaveri said, “Staying true to our brand identity, Home of
Blockbusters, Star Gold promises to bring the biggest
films to its viewers within a short span of their theatrical
release. We are overwhelmed by the response on Bajrangi
Bhaijaan. The films’ ratings are a strong validation that our
strategy is aligned with the viewers’ demands.”

“A staggering 74.5 million people, across the country,
tuned into the premiere which is close to 3 times the
number that watched it in the theatres,” the channel
mentioned.

With ‘Kick’ in 2014 and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in 2015, Star
Gold remains the official home of Salman Khan movies.
The channel pulled-off an extensive marketing campaign
for the premiere of the movie.

Even as other major GECs had a line up with big non-
fiction launches, live sporting events and movies on the
day of the premiere, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ managed to rake
in huge viewership, states Star Gold.

Jhaveri added, “At Star Gold, we stand committed to our
viewers and trade partners in our promise of bringing the
biggest blockbusters on television.”
