Sun has music, kids and comedy channels in all the languages except Bangla. This is not a yardstick to measure how successful a channel is in a market. Sun is lagging behind in Karnataka (along with Star). Paying attention to a market does not necessarily mean covering many genres.

In Kannada market, Sun will never get back to where it once was. They are deeply grounded. Only chance to improve their market would be launch of Udaya Movies HD. Nobody cares about Udaya TV anymore. Sadly, same is happening with Star. They lost license of Kannada version of KBC to Colors and have literally nothing left to drag audience back. They might survive if they convert Suvarna Plus into Suvarna Movies and launch a HD version and stop telecasting b-grade movies. Zee is surviving solely on its own shows, which is remarkable. Colors success is hugely due to the adapted shows. Both Colors and Zee are undisputed leaders leaving no space to other competitors.

Sun almost dead in All the regions except Tamil, but the case is now they fear the growth of Star and Zee in Tamil market and launching new soaps and shows to compete but the case is they are still in 1990's all their serials and shows are the worst in content wise if this continues Star, Zee and Colors will rule Tamil Tv market in next 10 years.Even we can expect regional GEC's from Sony as well in few years.Sun should seriously Work on improve its network in Content, Programming,Graphics and learn from other network that what is HD and so on.

Zee Bangla OK I don't think zee Kannada will retain it's success. Currently ck shows are so draging and oldest so viewers are moving to zee but remember they haven't unsubscribed colors. By this year end colors will have completely become young channel with new shows so it would be zee time facing audience who will start thinking zee drags.

However ck and zk are the only channel I see in every household.
Even CS is performing very good. So with Viacom and zee strongly holding market share it would be very tough for star to re enter Kannada GEC

My personal observation.. CK going further down !! Script seems outdated, even serial casting is not upto the mark. Technically CK is improving but serious lags when it comes to creative side. One person writes script for particular show..where as in ZK it's group of people collaborate together. Big drawback for CK is no weekend viewership!! It's taking a huge toll in their performance. Recent trend is urban viewership is turning towards ZK and rural viewership is towards Udaya. Sun network is investing hugely for next two years in Kannada..series of big budget multi lingual shows are on the way.

The have a pretty decent library with a mix of new and old movies good enough to start a movie channel; 'Zee Picchar' which is already planned. Some old movies were recently many movies being acquired from Udaya's library for the same purpose.
