A brand new show 'Chandragupta Maurya' is coming soon to touch your hearts only on Sony TV. This show is produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms.

'Chandragupta Maurya' will be historical drama which telecast on Sony Entertainment Channel , based on the life of Chandragupta Maurya, one of the major Indian Emperors of ancient India.

Rajat Tokas to play the title role and Shweta Basu has finalised to play Chandragupta's wife, Nandini . Shweta rose to fame with Balaji Telefilms’ daily Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.The actress was last seen in &TV’s Darr Sabko Lagta Hai.

Sources close to the show inform us that noted actor, Manoj Kolhatkar who has acted in films like 'Ugly', 'Halla Bol' has been finalised to play Chanakya. The shooting for the show will commence soon.

The story is about Chandragupta Maurya, who ruled over the Indian subcontinent in 300 BC. He would go on to become one of the greatest conquerors of India, with his empire extending from Assam in the east to Afghanistan and Baluchistan in the west.

MUMBAI: Star Plus is all set to air Ekta Kapoor’s ambitious project ‘Chandra Nandini’ from 10 October at 8.30 pm.

The show is a historical drama based on the life of Chandragupta Maurya, the founder of the Maurya Empire and the first emperor to unify the north and south-west of present-day India.

The show is produced by Balaji Telefilms, and Rajat Tokas of ‘Jodha Akbar’ fame will play the character of Chandragupta Maurya.

Jineet Rath essays the role of Chandragupta while Shweta Basu Prasad will play Nandini. The series also features Tanu Khan, Manoj Joshi, Arpit Ranka and Papiya Sengupta in pivotal roles.

The first promo of the series is already out, and it is said to be shot in Patna.

As ‘Chandra Nandini’ is set to air at 8.30 p.m., the future of the existing show ‘Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar Kya Karein’ is unknown.
