Anna, no such issue. They r within legal boundaries to provide 4K channel via internet mode on smart/android boxes of different operators. Already explained the same with all the reasoning in earlier posts.

Also delay in launch of New SD / HD channels has nothing to do with this 4K. Channel. Both r having different process to launch and factors which r to affect its launch or distribution. In march we will get to see to clarity on all fronts, which means broadcasters will launch/ rebrand/ shutdown concerned channels , new bouquets / RIO will get properly implemented across different DTH /Cable TV Platforms and even operators will start making changes / introduce new things which they have been working on for a long time.

First we understands that Star Sports/any DPO cant transmits its IPL live signal through Internet as it will be a legal issue with Digital rights holder.

Star network have no rights to Stream IPL via INTERNET in any way. They have satellites right only.

Jio is able to stream IPL on Jio SET top box via INTERNET ONLY because it has digital rights. If there were a Satellite too with JIO then they wouldn't be able stream IPL in JIO set top box via Satellite.

You need to understand Streaming through satellite and Internet are two different things.

Anna, u were part of conversation we had on this in last few days in this very Thread....i was hoping that u would have read my comments. Also if u went few pages back or searched with keywords then u would have easily gotten access to post i was referring to.

Anyways here it is

It will not be illegal buddy as they r making it available only to DTH/Cable TV platforms as a regular service channel and not as an OTT service.

Remember even Jio is planning to bring in Jio Cable wherein end user can access IPL feed on Jio Cinema app and connect the mobile/device to their TV via Jio Cable to watch the action on big screen.

Similarly here end user is getting the Star Sports 4K service channel on a regular LCN via their DTH operator, DTH operator is free to receive such a channel from broadcaster via satellite or internet mode but in the end they r providing the same to their customers as a regular service channel and not as an OTT service.

It is cost effective for Star Sports too if they run this channel via server / internet than satellite and even for an operator it helps save on bandwidth.

What infact confuses me is that how hindi movie channels of different broadcasters are available on various OTT platforms and r airing movies whose digital rights these broadcasters do not hold. Till now i have seen only Times Network movie channels block the transmission of channels for the period when it aired a movie whose rights they did not have when these were available on Airtel XStream Apo. Maybe there is some understanding between broadcasters and concerned OTT platforms for such kind of streaming of a movie on Live TV Channels available via apps

Members here talking about few seconds lag between Ott & DTH (Satellite tv) But you may find lag of few seconds between transmission two DTH Companies, infact we had two tata sky connection & one connection was few seconds ahead of other one.
