In this case I would surely refer OTT but if you want to watch movies era based then
Raj & Jaya - Old Movies with Rajini,Kamal,Sivaji,MGR, Jaya has newer films as well but besides some like 24,Kaththi, Poovarasam Peepee, Sachin, Arrambam, Yennai Arindhaal ,Cheran's films nothing is much impressive, similar with Raj besides Vanathaippola, Varalaru, Raavanan, Thenali Raj has boring post 2000s or 2010s stuff.
Sun/KTV is the best for films you'll get good PQ and AQ for older as well as newer films. The 7pm movie (besides those Sarathkumar and Vijayakanth later films.)is a good option.
Kalaignar has too some amazing films although it has a limited library.
Vijay and Zee are ok, with Zee now leading through Zee Thirai but My ranking is (post 2000)
1. Sun TV/KTV
2. Kalaignar TV
3. Star Vijay/Star Vijay Super
4. Jaya TV/J movies
5. Zee Tamil/Zee Thirai
6. Raj TV

Pre 2000
1. Sun/KTV
2. Raj TV
3. Jaya TV/J movies
4. Kalaignar TV
5. Zee Tamil/Zee Thirai
6. Star Vijay/Star Vijay Super

Raj TV puts better movies than Digital Plus
Sun TV and KTV movies will be watchable with less repeats (Mostly 3-4 months that a movie is repeated)
Kalaignar airs Movies 3 times a day
Zee Tamil only airs Movies on Festivals and Weekends so does Star Vijay

Nice of you to bring Raj Tv in the mix. The channel is just living with their Movie collection library. Hardly any attempt to revamp the channel and bring it to HD. Above all that they charge more than other movie channels LOL. Even if their free, I doubt how many will watch it.

Sun, Star, Zee are in the race to attain the satellite rights of newly released movies.

Tharai Thappattai seems already premiered in some Tamil Channel. I watched it on TV but forgot the channel. Anyone watched it earlier on any channel?

No earlier speculation with Vijay TV

Sivakarthikeyan's DON movie sold out to Zee Tamil for 34 Crores, it's highest ever for Sivakarthikeyan.
Digital Partner: Zee5
Satellite Partner: Zee Tamil, Zee Thirai
