True! Symbol Rate Alone Don't Say The Actual Capacity But It's One Of The Main Parameter,,

DVB S

DVB S2

DVB S2X

Mpeg - 2

Mpeg - 4

HEVC

VVC

And FEC Too

But Here Tata Play Compressing Channels Much Than Airtel
All these the best DTH companies are making money from customers by befooling them at cost of reduced PQ,people buy 4K HD TVs to get best picture to get best services from them and when they not get what they want they complaint and customer care will send technician to attend and he will tell this is what you will get best out of this DTH box

It is not befooling anybody but being practical when running a business. When people buy a DTH connection they know what channels they will get and even free to see demo before buying or read "genuine" reviews before taking final decision. Also Tata Play may be compressing channels somewhat more due to bandwidth crunch but Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, D2h, Sun Direct r not hence please don't put all under same bracket while making comparisons on basis of this criteria.

4K/HD/SD channels r launched by broadcasters based on various factors including financial viability and operators add them on basis on demand / bandwidth availability etc. A HD channel can provide u excellent picture / audio quality if transmitted well from broadcaster / operator end....4K is not needed for large majority of subscribers bcoz they have below 50 inch TV sets and most subscribe to SD and few opt for HD channels . 4K Channels cater to niche audience and it may be made available on event basis (major sporting properties) to viewers as may be viable to broadcasters but a full fledged 4K sports channel won't be launched not only bcoz its financially unviable but there is not much 4K sports content produced (including upscaled 4K). 4K will largely remain OTT phenomenon .

Coming to product quality of DTH or cable operators....well if customer is paying below Rs. 1000 for new HD box with new ODU and expect it to be of brilliant quality or give best output then i am sorry but this is quite literally impossible. Still in this price range operators r providing somewhat good equipments and in many cases like Airtel Xstream box product quality is excellent at price of Rs. 1500 thus operator is hugely subsidising the pricing for customers. If one is still unhappy then nothing can be done until people themselves r ready to pay more for quality products rather than always looking for cheaper options or freebies
