NEW DELHI: Direct-to-home operator TataSky is expecting 30 per cent increase in its subscriber base by next year on account of roll-out of third phase of digitisation by the government and enhanced services and number of channels.
"With Phase-III of digitisation set to roll out next year, increased broadband leading to more channels, enhanced services, greater accessibility and exciting new content, we are extremely buoyant about the coming months and are looking to grow our subscriber base by almost 30 per cent," Tata Sky CEO Harit Nagpal told PTI.
"Phase-II of digitisation has benefited us hugely," he added.
TataSky, a 80:20 JV between Tata group and media major STAR, said that as of April 2013, it had a total subscriber base of 11.5 million. For more TataSky sees 30% rise in user base on digitisation drive - The Economic Times on Mobile

How ts expecting 30% growth with maintaining DTH as premium biz.

For 3rd phase package and stb cost shed be affordable.

Do ts expecting 13 million subscriber up from 10 million

1. They must add more and more regional channels.

2. They should provide maximum channels on lowest base packs like d2h/ advt.
3. They should feel like down to earth. Right now TS is like elite product. Common consumer cant afford (minimum channel at same base price than others).

4. They should make available new acquisition at an affordable prices.

Last, but not the least, they must change their attitude. They should feel consumers needs, money will automatically come if consumers are satisfied. We waited so long. How much to wait more?

For lower pack ts has all pay channels and after more space they can add fta channels in lower base pack only Hd and higher pack is not good. But who can afford 100 to 180 for a movie in multiplex they why not pay 100 extra for HD and premium content. I think this is ts's strategy. [if i compare dhammal mix pack or supreme sport pack with airtel then airtel is costly, not providing many pay channels.]

If relate no of chs with pack price, then one feels that TS is pricy.
BTW all are going to increase pack price once 3rd digitization phase starts.
