Sports broadcaster Ten Sports is to broadcast Brazilian soccer in South Asia after agreeing a new deal with Total Sports Asia.
The multi-platform agreement grants Ten Sports the live and exclusive rights to two leagues in Brazil – the São Paulo State Championship, otherwise known as the Paulista, and the Brazilian National Championship, commonly known as Brasileirão Serie A.
Up until 2014, the broadcaster will telecast 82 matches each season from the Paulista, the top regional league in Brazil in which top clubs such as Corinthians, São Paulo, Santos and Palmeiras compete. For the same period, 54 matches each will be shown live and exclusive from the Brasileirão Serie A, the top national league in Brazil.
In addition, Ten Sports will broadcast a highlights show, Footbrazil Highlight, and a magazine show, Footbrazil Magazine Show.
Suvrangsu Mukherjee, managing director for South Asia at Total Sports Asia said: "We are delighted to join hands with Ten Sports to bring the exciting Brazilian Football League to India. This will be the first time that the league will be shown on a national channel in India.”
“We are sure that Brazilian Football League will draw a lot of interest from football fans around the country, especially since Indians have been passionate supporters of the Brazilian national team and great fans of the Brazilian style of football."
