Instead these rules,

Trai could have launched,

NCF for 200 channels, Rs. 153 /- (including tax)
If monthly bill crosses Rs.200, NCF should reduce to Rs. 120/- (including tax)
If monthly bill crosses Rs. 250, NCF should reduce to Rs. 100/- (including tax)

It would benefit Customer(in terms of number of channels in lesser bill),

Broadcaster( without reducing their price and other rules)

And finally DPOs( As most of the DPOs are in huge profit and giving discounted NCF, customer opting for more no. channels or monthly bill will balance their profit share)
But isn't it a PUSH factor again ? .... That more the channels you take less the price u pay.... We all know we hardly watch 200-300 channels ... Instead we watch select 15-20 channels at max in a month or less.

This will make broadcasters a happy lot ;)

Buy more pay less is present in all the fields..
If you buy 3 soaps, 1 soap is free.
If you buy 5ltr oil you get 5% discount on MRP. This is their marketing strategy.

As the minimum ARPU of Rs.153/- required for running business, which includes only FTA crap channels. To get 10-20 selected channels, currenly we spend btw 200-300. With above scheme, customer would get discounted NCF by upto Rs. 50/-. Currently all DPOs getting huge margins. Minimum ARPU (FTA) + Pay channels ARPU

TRAI first reduce NCF price 130Rs to88Rs or less than 100Rs (Not including tax).
With Reduceing channel prices consider this also . It reduces high total bill in rural section.

In my opinion, Fixing NCF @130 and no other slab would be good (i.e. 200 channels or more than that). But I guess no one is hearing us 😅

Just Spoke To One Of My Source From Leading Broadcasters,

They Are Very Much Sooner NTO 2.0 Will Come Into Effect,,,,

As things stand, broadcasters can't push new RIOs onto DPOs, so if they want to launch a new channel they can't insert it into existing bouquets it would have to be on an a-la-carte basis which is why many launches are on hold. If they want to shut down a channel they will have to compensate by reducing MRP of existing bouquets which would burn a hole. Hence, they will think twice before shutting down channels like SPNI did which made them try to remove low priced bouquets.

More or less paralyzed due to status quo :p Hoping small broadcasters not part of IBF coterie publish rates by tomorrow

Brother problem is broadcasters have launched multiple channels in each genre. The numbers are still increasing. Ten 4 is also in pipeline

Expecting Discovery network to launch NTO 2.0 tomorrow, as it just needs to do small correction to existing packs.
