MUMBAI: Following its high-decibel launch a few days back, Hindi general entertainment channel &TV has got down to building its weekend programming slot in the first week itself.

The channel will launch two non-fiction shows ‘Killer Karaoke’ and ‘Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi’ on 7 March in the primetime band and air Bollywood movies earlier in the day.

Produced by SOL Productions, ‘Killer Karaoke’ has been adapted from the American game show of the same name produced by Zodiak.

The Indian version ‘Killer Karaoke: Atka Toh Latkah’ will air at 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Hosted by actor Krushna Abhishek, it will feature TV stars like Pratyusha Banerjee, Asha Negi, Ankit Gera, Jay Soni, Aishwarya Sakhuja, and Karan Tacker taking the non-stop singing challenge.

The stars will have to sing on the karaoke amidst various distractions and twists thrown at them in addition to Abhishek’s antics as the ‘instigating’ host.

The second show ‘Tujhse Naaraz Nahi Zindagi’ will occupy the 10 pm slot on weekends.

It will present a new concept, with actor Ashish Sharma donning the role of a radio jockey.

Sharma will share inspiring narratives of redemption of celebrities and the public.

The two shows will mainly compete with another celebrity-based show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ on rival channel Colors and the singing reality show ‘Saregamapa Li’l Champs’ on Zee TV.

&TV business head Rajesh Iyer in an earlier interaction had stated that the channel would have a mix of fiction, non-fiction content, along with movies and marquee events.

Accordingly, the channel will also start airing movies on the weekends.

On 7 March at 12 pm, the channel will air the Hindi film ‘Entertainment’ featuring Akshay Kumar, followed by the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Happy New Year’ at 5:30 pm.

On Sunday, 8 March, the channel will telecast the film ‘Main Tera Hero’ at 12 pm and ‘Holiday’ at 6 pm.

&TV is clearly leveraging the strength of the Zee network, which holds the satellite rights of the above-mentioned films
