CLASH OF THE TITANS.
It is not every day the two big names of the industry come face to face at the turnstiles. Pongal 2014 begs to be different. In it that Ajith and Vijay are tussling it out at the box office with their releases - Veeram and Jilla respectively. We take a look at the rare instances in the past when their movies released at the same time.
The releases on Pongal 2001 have been diverse - Vijay's Friends was a comedy drama while Ajith's Dheena was a commercial entertainer. Both won hearts and business.
The Diwali of 2002 cracked with enthusiasm over Vijay's Bhagavathi and Ajith's Villain, one of the important movies in Ajith’s career.
2003 did not fall behind either with Thirumalai and Anjaneya releasing on Diwali day.
Pongal 2006 saw Aadhi and Paramasivan rubbing shoulders with each other.
While the Pongal of 2007 had one of the most successful movies in Vijay's career – Pokkiri, Ajith made his presence felt with Aalwar.
With Jilla and Veeram releasing this Pongal, it will be interesting to see the reception both these movies garner from the fans of these biggies.
