Viacom18 to enter Tamil market with launch of Colors Tamil in Q4 of 2017

MUMBAI: Viacom18 is entering the Tamil market with the launch of Colors Tamil. The new general entertainment channel (GEC) will launch in the fourth quarter of 2017.

With this, Viacom18 will expand its fleet of regional GECs to seven. The company already operates GECs in the Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia and Bangla markets. In July 2016, it launched a second GEC, Colors Super, in the Kannada market.

Colors Tamil will be Viacom18’s third channel in the South market. It will battle in India’s largest regional market, so far dominated by Sun TV Network.
