Strange definition, if so tatasky wouldn't added channels without adding new tp ,every guy including you told about the space crunch of tatasky, most told of Airtel in space crunch before activated new tp,they also found a option.
Read the thread contents carefully.'Videocon could have more than 35 HD channels over the next year, and is looking to gain satellite capacity to cater for this demand for extra HD channels. '
They want more space to add more hd channel's but they didn't have yet.that's why asked for more tp.

Isn't this say they didn't have any extra tp in the bag.if they have 5 tp they will activate to add more channels. Why they demand two more now .
You highlighted a portion form the article which says, d2h could have more than 35 HD channels in the next year. But they already crossed 35 this year.

Yes, the phrase ''could have'' is confusing here..
Would be great if it is ''could add'' ;) :)

Till now 7 very much demanding HD channels(&TV HD,ZEE CAFE HD,EPIC HD,NAT GEO PEOPLE HD,ANIMAL PLANET HD WORLD,ASIANET HD) are pending for D2H. Within 2-3 months the list will move up to 9-10 HD(WITH THE LAUNCH OF SONY SAB HD,SONY MAX HD) channels. Not only for the HD but also D2H have to create space to add many SD and 1-2 4K channels.

Read the next line .I am talking of demand of new tp .not count, they have remove few, added in active few,to add 2-3 hd channel's including the fec changes for space.how many times vd2h changed fec in past ? Not many changes until now.if they have some tp in the bag then why not activated like they did last time? Why now asking for new tp?

Hbo Hd channels are also very demanded, now ppl are tired of asking for this and therefore the hype seem low.
