BANGALORE: Vijay TV has announced the fifth edition of its annual Tamil cinema awards – ‘The Close Up Vijay Awards powered by Kohinoor The True Basmati’.
The event is to recognise the excellence of professionals in the Tamil film industry for movies released in 2010.
The tentative date for the awards ceremony is 25 June, say sources at Vijay TV.
The jury members for the fifth annual Vijay Awards comprises the writer/director/producer Yugi Sethu, actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Karthik, director A. R. Murugadoss and cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran.
Besides the title sponsors Close Up and Kohinoor Basmaiti Rice, Vijay TV has roped in Dr MGR University, P dot G, Sri Lakshmi Jewellery, HIT, Ruchi Pickles, Vijaya Optical House, Himalaya Soap, Lalitha Jewellery, Premiere, Sabari Group, Europa, and Modfurn as associate sponsors, Radio Mirchi as the event partner and DOOHM as the outdoor media partner for the fifth edition of its cinema awards.
The channel announced that it will flag off the ‘Rasigan Express’ on 3 June at Chennai. 'Rasigan Express’ is a publicity bus created for the Vijay Awards. Eminent film personalities like S.A. Chandrasekar (president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council), AVM Saravanan (producer) and R. Sarathkumar (president of the South Indian Film Artists’ Association) will inaugurate the flag off ceremony from AVM Studios.
