DTH companies have resorted to OTT platforms to survive and move but there is a good option but it will not last long as it is now giving broadband fiber IP TV and OTT is a subscriber free of their.

I think you have some confusion. All channels are already being offered in 720p+.
SD Channels: 720p
HD Channels: 1080i/1080p

While on the topic of removing HD branding, it is not possible. SD channels are far ahead in terms of viewership compared to their HD versions. Just check BARC TRP. Price of SD channels are also less compared with HD variants with same content.
you are wrong on this. SD channels are 576i. 720p is HD and 1080p is full HD. In india broadcasters HD feed is mostly 1080i. Previously a price difference was there between sd and hd because how TRAI NTO treated them seperately before. Now even TRAI has removed that difference for carriage fee calculation.
With TRAI taking that step, broadcasters should should also step up

Some are using old tv type 📺 HD is not useful for them
I'm one with CRT TV till date..And the clarity in HD resolution is visible, although not significant...
The day when HD channels are honestly priced.
Absolutely....A wider inequality in the prices of both the chaanels would result in less customer being interested in HD

Besides, HD picture was something which amused the audience back in the time of last decade, the price was reasonable back then...
Nowadays, HD picture is highly accessible and the same price as the yester year would definitely cause less customer attraction...(In light of the cost efficient alternatives)

Name another country where SD and HD versions of the same channel are treated as completely different entities. India is the only one! We are still far from reaching the level of other countries, which provide a single feed for their channels with no ‘HD’ tag in the logo.

exactly. my expectation was the ecosystem is mature enough now that there should be only a single feed with 'HD' quality for all channels

largely rural areas doesnt get cable tv or fiber like,,,still dd freedish needed for many northies

Well 5G and Airfiber is widely available in rural areas also and it's expanding fastly.
Considering the price hikes and gimmicky packages from DTH operators the switch is invertible.
