Discussion Why Sony BBC Earth deserves a shutdown

whole world is getting new/ latest shows and where as in India old repeated shows come the reason is price factor.... content cost is really expensive and channel pricing is way too less compare too the world....infotainment channels will keep showing old shows till pricing is changed

They are the content producer. They are syndicate in multiple countries of the world. Only India is left behind. These has happened post NTO. Even pre-NTO same was the case. Atleast Nat Geo and Discovery are producing local original along while also syndicating shows from their International counterpart.

BBC programs r quite expensive to buy , more so if one does so in shorter release window. They will bring on new shows when cost balance comes in. NTO has nothing to do with content or channel shutdown, just that broadcasters r not willing to adapt with more justified framework. Also viewers should develop more interest in opting for good chs even at slightly higher price. Discovery or Nat Geo r also not airing varied or latest content.


I m fine with older shows for time being but variety is must. Discovery Science is worst, they r repeating same episodes of few shows since last 2 yrs

Than go full OTT like Discovery. You won't believe the massive library of content Discovery+ has seeing their poor offering on tv.

bro future is that only....Indian television would be limited too regional tv channels (entertainment, movie channels) few English movies and entertainment channels, few Hindi movies and entertainment channels major programming would be shifted too OTT

As of now channel don't deserve shut down
New shows not coming that should not continue another coming months other wise it will b boring seeing same content
Now compared to other info channels
Earth HD clearity is fantastic
Feels like "Feel alive " as channel tag line says
Shows related to science, diet, wildlife, r mind blowing
Never seen before any other channels with so much picture clearity
Thus channel deserve to be in 4k
Hope new shows launches soon

Also, Sony BBC Earth is soon going to celebrate its 4th anniversary on 6 March. That it has managed to stay on air for this long when Sony has pulled the plug on excellent channels such as AXN, Sony ESPN, Sony Le Plex HD, Sony Rox HD and Animax is commendable. But simply existing is not going to be enough for much longer.

If Earth HD has more viewership than Earth SD, then they should scrap SD and launch BBC Earth Prime(Hd) with atleast Rs. 30.
Prime can then afford shows and simulcast with original. People who want this can subscribe it.
Earth HD will air 1,2 months after Prime.
