Why the hell Koffee With Karan is forced on us by Star World 10 times a day?

They are planning it to shutdown to replace it with Star Sports 1 Tamil HD. Disney India is disgrace to Walt Disney's legacy. They are taking away American culture from TV to give us an unwanted regional channel.
Instead of launching SS Tamil HD 1 they should bring it's Tamil feed and star world should shutdown and get replaced with star gold romance

Romance is a myth in India. That doesn't exist. Nobody cares about romantic movies. Meanwhile with good content Star World can do good. Just how Colors Infinity and Comedy Central are giving competition to OTT players. Even people with major OTT subscription are streaming linear channels with a Voot subscription.

How is a myth ?? I like all of its romantic movie be it jab we met, Jaane tu ya jaane Na, baton baton mein, chhoti si baat etc. Star World Could do great if they launched HBO Shows like euphoria, House of dragons, gossip girl reboot & new seasons of curb your enthusiasm all HBO Shows play a major role in star world's TRP
 
Nothing new. Star have a habit of pushing 1 show 100 times to you. Star Sports do the same with IPL. Star World do the same with Coffee with Karan. Now people will come and defend star by saying people watch them and they earn more money from it. So they telecast it. End of story. 👍

There is no question of defending any broadcaster but just stating the plain truth which is that either channel will shut down soon or undergo rebranding.

Star World used to air various different shows but same started reducing post 2017 with advent of OTT and internet penetration / affordability increasing. Even zee cafe which used to air so many new and old shows has undergone change in content strategy and airing just repeats these days but still better than star world. Comedy Central, Colors Infinity is still maintaining a balance between fresh and old English Entertainment Content.

Still English GEC channels can work well on TV if right content strategy is adopted to attract emerging as well as loyal audience. They need to provide best mix of curated content at affordable pricing, as ratings go upwards ads will come in thus forming the main basis of revenue.

Star World actually took a wrong turn when after launch of Star World Premiere it took much of the good content off air from the channel thinking that people will b willing to pay premium amount of Rs. 60 per month to watch new content on Star World Premiere. Neither this strategy succeeded as OTT/ internet gained momentum they did not evolve correct strategy to gain back the audience . Anyways i still have hope that they will try once more to revive Star World, already shared feedback with them regarding this

Romance , Comedy, Action, Drama all sorts of movies do well on TV. Star Gold Romance will b a success, more of such segmented hindi movie channels should b launched by various broadcasters so that viewers can opt for content of their choice.

True. Comedy Central and Colors Infinity r doing a good job with kind of curated mix of content they r airing but still if u notice both channels hardly having ads so as one can see either ratings r not good or still advertisers preferring to advertise on OTT / Online platforms to reach out to their target audience . Viacom18 needs to further improve on content to expand its viewership among emerging and loyal audience as well as present before advertisers the data that their channel is being watched by sizeable audience base which they want to reach out to. Yes, it is a long drawn process but essential to keep running of channels financially viable. Viacom18 has backing of big companies which can afford to run channels even if it is loss making but same cannot do b done for long term.

Yes, OTT and Internet affordability / penetration has lead to erosion of viewer base of English GEC and Movie Channels but if right kind of content is offered then not only loyal/ regular audience will come back as well emerging audience which live in smaller cities / rural areas or even in urban areas which still new into English Learning fold and have no or limited access to OTT or internet for entertainment needs ... They will surely tune into these channels .

They did try airing such niche shows on Star World Premiere all thru 2021 and start of 2022 but it did not yield good results . Niche Shows which do not require much censorship or shows where censorship does not ruin the show can work well on English GEC chs but it needs to be complimented to older as well newer popular comedy , investigation, drama shows so that such content can attract different audience groups on a single channel

OTT fatigue is a real thing, people r unsubscribing from many OTT platforms bcoz they are not getting time to watch content and even the whole process of searching the content on different platforms is tedious and above all there r complaints where people feel they r paying for content they do not even watch.
All in all broadcasters have great opportunity to have successful English GEC channels if they adopt right strategy
 
Viacom is premiering a new original show The Inventor Chalenge today at 8 pm. It's not that the market doesn't have potential. It is Star who doesn't can look past regional and cricket channels. Till date Disney International HD the only proper English Entertainment channel isn't included in any of the bouquets. Tge only channel that is been left out of bouquets. The channel is the only family friendly entertainment channel across all languages. Otherwise vulgarity is there even on kids channels.

Nothing to do with Disney India.... Worldwide including in several Asian countries big as well as small broadcasters r shutting down channels and shifting content to OTT bcoz audience is ditching TV. In India disney india adopted same approach for its English GEC channel / content but fact is here situation is completely different
- we do not get tv channels and ott subscriptions at comparable rates which is the case in many other countries
- we have limited super niche audience which will completely shift to OTT... Others will not bcoz of reasons i have stated above
- huge potential for broadcasters to garner viewership from emerging audience

All these possibilities/situations do not exist in developed or other countries where chord cutting is taking place at great pace. In indiq across genres if broadcasters provide good curated content to audience at fair price and earn major revenue thru ads then there is no question of people shifting to OTT platforms in large numbers, TV remains and will remain undisputed leading medium for entertainment needs.. Now even OTT platforms r reducing rates and considering freemium model where large part of content will b available for free and revenue generation will happen with ads. India is a unique market in this world as far as media landscape is concerned and companies need to tailor made policies for catering to the audience here

Than why are they launching South Indian music channel. Who listens to music on TV when everyone has smartphones? There is Youtube, Spotify, Gaana etc. Why are they wasting bandwidth on a lower segmented channels?

When did They air ?? They didn't air any single HBO Shows after 2019 i remember watching curb on 2019 and it was giving good trp back then
