The Mask (Hindi Dubbed) premiering tomorrow 7:55 PM on Star Gold / Star Gold HD.

As usual tomorrow too Star/Disney hindi movie channels have great selection of bollywood movies lined up for its viewers. Other broadcasters need to learn a lot from them in this regard, so many good bollywood films r sidelined to give space to dubbed south indian movies which is not the correct content strategy for hindi movie channels. Also frequent repetition should be avoided. Sony and Viacom18 seem to b improving on bollywood content but lot more needs to be done, zee is still not quite making the much needed changes and usually its schedule is still filled with dubbed south indian movies, also repetition of handful bollywood films still continues

Bollywood has very nice collection of films particularly ones released before 2010 , Post 2010 too there r many films which r fantastic and can cater to wide section of audience but still the old world charm of bollywood seems to b missing in lot of these bollywood movies which have been released in 2010s / 2020s & they lack repeat value of do not fit in family viewing category....also there r so many films from 2010 till now which aren't quite good. Bollywood started making too many films for multiplex / niche audience starting 2012 or so and lost touch with the mass audience which likes masala bollywood movies. Now as OTT gained prominence most of this multiplex audience is skipping theatres and watching stuff on OTT thus there has been one box office flop after another, ofcourse there r films which had potential to succeed bcoz of its attraction to watch on big screen but flopped bcoz they are not good.
If one notices all of the old masala bollywood movies r getting excellent ratings on hindi movie channels, this is the audience bollywood needs to cater to. Closing of single screen cinemas, inflated prices of multiplex tickets and lack of masala bollywood films or even if made then not being good have lead to bollywood losing this huge audience base which has shifted to watching new dubbed south indian movies alongwith older bollywood masala movies. Also u might have noticed so many multiplex movies becoming hit in theatres but flopping on tv while many good masala bollywood movies proving flop at multiplex while getting great ratings on TV. There is a mismatch and both bollywood film makers and broadcasters need to address this issue, concept of TV Movie should b brought where masala bollywood movies r made for T audience and released / premiered directly on channels.... Niche /critically acclaimed and certain mass cum niche bollywood films which have potential to succeed at theatres as well as on TV can continue to have release across platforms in a phased manner as happens regularly
