In past, when SAB TV was taken by Sony it was simply named as SET SAB or Sony SAB so why can't ZEE Network? They can easily become Sony ZEE, Sony Cinema, Sony Action, Sony Classic, etc.
And, & brand can coexist having only international project in India. &privé, &pictures, &pix.
Sony&International (International shows) and Sony Zindagi can be their VoD channel like Zindagi TV.
Because use SAB TV was only one channel and when sony bought it, it wasn't even that popular. Hence it's easier to rebrand keeping the core identity same i.e sab. Same goes with Maa network but in this case they were popular and star did it in phases first logo of star maa was still having original maa logo so that people get time to process the change. Both of these above cases are acquisition and not merger.

In case of SONY ZEE, It's a merger and Both brand have very strong identity nationwide. Also there are lot of channels running for 15 to 20 years from zee which has stronger user penetration. So it would never be a great idea to rebrand zee into sony.

Don't know how much you are aware about this but SAB TV was popular among many household. After, that only SAB like family comedy shows were introduced for throughout the weekdays on other channels.
I guess you are one of those from TMKOC era. Whereas Office Office, Say Na Something to Anupam Uncle, Zabaan Sambhalke, etc. were way popular than you think.

This has something to do with the merger
Mr. Zubyan, do you even read before you post? Or do you do such things deliberately?

In that article, it's clearly mentioned in fine print:

"It is not currently known if this move is linked to the merger with Sony."

Yet, you posted this with a footnote which itself is contradictory to the article.

Title itself is enough to understand. They are saying zee is not waiting for this move till merger.

Now merger on fast track, otherwise Zee might face trouble due to Sony initiate talks to Disney to acquire Star network/Hotstar.
