Zee promoter family to initially hold over 2.2%, going up to 3.99%. Provision for promoter family to increase stake in merged entity to 20% subject to some clauses like purchase at market value.

Finally we get something good to hear after waiting for a long time and after hearing so many negotiation news.

Both Zee and Sony are strong in their own perspectives. Zee is strong in GEC, Regional GEC and movie channels and also have a good collection of movies. Whereas Sony is stronger in it's GEC offerings, sports content and HD channels which provide an amazing PQ and AQ.

This merger is beneficial to both the networks in a lot of ways. Now, Sony can have it's presence in South Indian as well as other regional market where Zee is strong. Also, they can share many movies (some already being shared) from Zee in a scenario where they have lost rights of many movies.

This was a much needed merger to compete Disney-Star which has grown/growing big. Hope we get to see good results from now on.

Media and entertainment giant Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd's board has cleared merger deal with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), according to various reports and an official announcement is expected soon

Zee has announced a 90-day period to conduct due diligence for the merger process which comes to a close today (21 December). Both the companies raced against time to complete the inspection of books post which the respective board cleared the deal.
