Dish TV has increased the cost of upgrading from SD to HD set-top box. The DTH operator is now charging Rs 999 instead of Rs 799, first spotted by DreamDTH.
Any existing Dish TV user with SD connection can upgrade to HD by paying Rs 999, after placing the request, a technician from Dish TV will take the old SD set-top box and replace it with new HD box, advanced remote, HDMI cable and power adapter. Customers will also get the HD version of their currently subscribed packs for 1 month at no extra cost.
For upgrading to an HD box, Airtel Digital TV is charging Rs 699 along with additional Rs 150 technician charge making total price Rs 849, while Rs 1,999 have to be paid for upgrading to the Airtel Xstream box.
Tata Sky, on the other hand, costs Rs 1,199 for upgrading to HD box and for upgrading to 4K box you have to pay Rs 5,900. Existing subscribers who want the recording feature in Tata Sky can upgrade to the HD PVR set-top box at Rs 7,890.
