WarnerMedia’s entertainment channels HBO and WB shuttered down operations in India effective 16th December 2020 post which the channels have been removed from distribution platform operators in India. The company had announced the shuttering of the channels in mid-October citing a dramatic shift in the pay-TV market accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The broadcaster has shuttered down HBO HD, HBO SD, and WB in India while WB has been discontinued in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Maldives effective 15th December, 2020.
HBO India in a tweet on Twitter said, “20 years summed up in a minute. It’s not enough, never will be enough. But tell you what, your love for us has always been. Thank you for it all. Signing off, HBO India.“
The shutdown leaves WarnerMedia offerings in India at 4 channels namely Pogo, Cartoon Network, Cartoon Network HD+, and CNN International.
