DD Free Dish is India’s first and only Free to Air (FTA) Direct to Home (DTH) service from Doordarshan. Post the New Tariff Order (NTO), the DTH operator has seen a huge growth at the expense of pay-TV platforms. FICCI EY 2020 report estimates that its subscriber base could have grown to 38 million at the end of 2019.
Doordarshan on its own does not sell or market the equipment for DD Free Dish but has empaneled many manufacturers. It can be purchased from any TV dealer. The main advantage behind buying it is the one-time investment one needs to make for enjoying DD Free Dish channels. There is no monthly subscription fee.
Prasar Bharati had earlier in April released a list of FTA DTH dealers and retailers where one can buy the necessary equipment for DD Free Dish.
