Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) earlier this launched a new Channel Selector app that allows users to view, modify, subscribe, and optimize their existing subscribed TV channels and packs. For now, the app supports only major DTH and Cable services, which include Airtel, Dish TV, D2H, Tata Sky, Siti Network, Asianet, Hathway Digital, and InDigital.

To use the TRAI Channel Selector app, select your DTH or cable operator from the list and then tap on continue. On the login page, you can either enter the registered mobile number (RMN), subscriber ID, or set-top box number. Once you have entered your details, tap on continue. After that, you will receive a one time password or authentication code on your registered mobile number or TV screen. Enter the code and tap on the Verify button to log in to the TRAI Channel Selector app.

Once logged in, you will see a summary page that shows the subscription ID, number of bouquets subscribed, total number of channels, number of individual channels subscribed, and DTH or Cable TV activation date. It also shows monthly subscription costs and the current balance. To edit the current subscribed packs and channels, tap on View my Plan.

Here, you can view your subscribed bouquets and channels by tapping on Current Subscription. You can also remove your subscribed bouquets and channels by tapping on the red cross button, and to add, tap on the green plus button. After making the required changes, tap on the submit button.

On the next page, you will see the summary of newly added channels, removed channels, and current subscription. After reviewing, tap on the Optimize button, and then tap on continue. At this point, the app will show the list of channels you have selected to add or remove. Tap on the Proceed button at the bottom of the screen to continue.

After that, the app will show a message that “your subscription modification details have been submitted successfully and shall be affected in the next 72 hrs.” The app will also show the acknowledgment number, monthly bill, and current balance.

The TRAI Channel Selector app is available for Android and iOS users and can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store
