Shopping Bazaar run Bhojpuri Movie channel Manoranjan Grand has got interim relief once again from the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to pay the fourth instalment which was due at an earlier date. Manoranjan Grand now has time upto 20th July to pay up the fourth instalment.
TDSAT had earlier in June granted Manoranjan Group extended time period to pay up the third instalment which was due in May by 25th June. Manoranjan Grand has paid up the third instalment within the extended period.
The fourth instalment became due on 26th June which hasn’t been paid with the notice time for the payment coming to an end on 6th July. Manoranjan Grand raised the plea of financial difficulty due to COVID-19 and stated that it had paid up the due instalments for two other channels and its bonafide should not be questioned.
Shopping Bazaar assured to pay the instalments in due time once the market situation improves and the adverse effect of COVID-19 gets reduced. Prasar Bharati on its part stated that it had already provided concessions through its schemes and that further time extension could cause loss to Prasar Bharati as the rate of interest has also been reduced.
The tribunal however ruled in favour allowing it extended time until 20th July to pay up the fourth instalment. The tribunal’s order read, “Considering the extraordinary impact of the COVID-19 on the market and bonafide of the petitioner for which it was granted extension of time on the last occasion, the prayer made in the M.A. is allowed only to the extent that fourth installment already due must be paid by the petitioner on or before 20.07.2020, failing which the notice already given can be implemented by the respondent.”
