The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has in November approved 10 new TV licenses from various broadcasters. The licenses are yet to be operationalized post the ministry approval. Kasthuri Media and Khusboo Multimedia licenses are among the notable new licenses, first spotted by DreamDTH.
Haribhoomi Communications has got the license to launch regional news channels Janta TV Madhya Pradesh and Janta TV Chattisgarh. Kasthuri Media has got the license to launch Kannada channels Kasthuri Comedy and Kasthuri Gold.
Khushboo Multimedia has got the license to launch Popular TV and Tamasha. MH One Network has got the license to launch Shraddha channel which could be a devotional channel. Telugu broadcaster Ganesh Digital Network has to nod to launch Studio One Plus and Studio Yuva.
The 10th license is Live India Today’s Wave Wings channel. All channels were granted license this month taking the number of permitted satellite TV channels to 917. Due to double entries of Popular TV and Tamasha the Ministry’s database is showing 919 TV channels which is factually incorrect.
DreamDTH had earlier 2 days back reported that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had cancelled three TV licenses which include two licenses from ‘The Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Company Limited’ and one from ‘Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’.
