The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has released the list of 1568 multi-system operators (MSOs) that have been granted registration in the digital addressable system (DAS) as on 24 October 2019.
Earlier, the number of registered MSOs as of 31.10.2017 stood at 1469. 102 MSOs have been granted a new license in the last 2 years since 31 October 2017. As per order no. 2/108/2015-DAS dated 27th January 2017 all registered MSOs unless indicated in registration order specifically, can operate anywhere in India.
City Cable Net MSO has had a name change to CCN Digital India as on date 13.05.2019. The proprietorship remains with the same person. Asianet Broadband Private Limited MSO has had a name change to Asianet Digital Network Private Limited as on date 22.06.2018. Radiant Digitek Network Pvt. Ltd is now M/s Radiant Digitek Network Ltd.
Hathway Datacom Central Private Limited has had a name change to Hathway Digital Pvt. Ltd vide letter dated 25.01.2019. Den Saurashtra Entertainment Pvt Ltd has had a name change to Dessert Saurashtra Entertainment Pvt Ltd as on date 25.01.2019. Crystal Transmission Private Limited. has had a name change to Aristo Telemedia Pvt. Ltd. as on date 22.02.2019.
According to the statistics provided by the ministry, The ministry is also sitting on 100 MSO applications at the end of September 2019 as compared to 107 at the end of August 2019. The ministry approved 19 MSO licenses in September 2019 as compared to only one MSO application in August. The number of received MSO applications with MIB at the end of September 2019 stood at 118 compared to 110 MSOs at the end of August 2019.
