The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) today updated it’s permitted satellite TV channel database with the renaming of Horizon Satellite Service Private Limited’s satellite TV channel license ‘Y TV’ to ‘DA News Plus’. The renaming of the satellite TV channel license is believed to have taken place last week with the channel already up on satellite for a dry run test.
DA News Plus will be a satellite news channel catering to Assamese and Bengali speaking audience in Assam. The channel’s satellite test transmission has already started from Intelsat 17 66° E.

Notably, the satellite TV channel license was not so long ago involved in a major dispute between Quintillion Media and the MIB. Raghav Bahl’s Quint Media had acquired Horizon Media with plans to use ‘Y TV’ license to rename the aforesaid channel to ‘Bloomberg Quint’ but landed in a tussle with MIB. The company went to TDSAT and Delhi High Court but to no avail before giving up on its plan’s to launch ‘Bloomberg Quint’ as a TV channel.
