The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is seeking an affidavit for mandatory carriage of Doordarshan Mandatory channels by cable operators on their cable TV network. The Ministry noted that it had notified DD Yadagiri as a mandatory channel on 15th November 2019 to be carried on the network by MSO/Cable operator.

The gazette notification increased the number of mandatory TV channels from 26 to 27. 25 Doordarshan channels, Lok Sabha TV, and Rajya Sabha TV make up the mandatory channels list.

The Ministry has noted that accordingly the list of mandatory TV channels to be carried by the MSO undertaken by their affidavit needs to be extended to the extent including DD Yadagiri as the additional TV channel in their list filed through Affidavit.

The Cable TV act currently empowers local authorized officers to seize the equipment of the operator for not carrying the mandatory channels. Fresh MSO applicants will have to furnish an affidavit on a Stamp paper of Rs 100 which will be sworn before notary appointed by Central/State Government.
