112 Multi-System Operator (MSO) license applications are pending with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) as on February 29, 2020, according to the statistics provided by the I&B Ministry. The Ministry granted 16 new licenses to MSO to start their transmission.
12 new MSO license applications were received by the Ministry in February. In January also it had 12 new license applications whereas in December 2019 it had received 22 new MSO license applications. The Ministry has received around 193 MSO license applications from April 2019 to February 2020.
The Ministry approved 16 new MSO applications in February, whereas in January it had approved 15 new MSO applications. Haur Cable Network, Nabadiganta Cable Network, Krishna Enterprises, Lamjingba Times Pvt. Ltd, Sneha Digital Networks, Bangabhumi Cable and Broadband Pvt. Ltd, AIS Cable & Broadband Pvt. Ltd, Durga Digital (OPC) Pvt. Ltd, Asian Cable Network, GTPL Vijayaraya Network, Sri Sai Cable and Broadband Pvt. Ltd, VSN Network, Sri Srinivasa Cable Network, City Cable Network, Star Digital Services, Mak Infrapromoters Ltd are the 15 MSOs that have been granted permission by the Ministry. The total number of registered MSOs as of 28 February 2020 is 1646.
The I&B Ministry has now approved 81 MSO licenses between April 2019 to February 2020. It is sitting on 112 MSO applications as of February 29, 2020, compared to 114 at the end of January 2020. It was pending with 116 applications at the end of December 2019.
