Prasar Bharati last week awarded the Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning (SITC) of up-gradation of existing two compression chains and monitoring systems at DTH Earth Station, Todapur, Delhi from wherein the public broadcaster manages the signals of its DD Free Dish DTH platform.
The tender has been awarded to Falcon Technologies for the SITC of DD DTH expansion. The tender’s date of delivery is five months from the issue of the purchase order which ends on 22nd March 2021.
The tender is worth Rs 12 crore forty-nine lakhs with the bidder providing professional IRDs, IP data switches, compression system, HD-SDI patch panel, digital encoder, network management system, cable tray, Ku-band receive setup for down-link monitoring, and monitoring system among other things.
The draft specification of the SITC for DD DTH expansions dating back to February 2019 reveals that the project envisions an expansion of DD Free Dish in the sanctioned 12th plan scheme with up-gradation of two compression chains with six existing transponders. The project also envisioned a provision for HDTV channels in the upgraded compression chain system which can be alternatively be used in the place of SDTV channels.
