Prasar Bharati Board has decided to restructure Doordarshan. Prasar Bharati will separate Doordarshan’s Creative Functions into a dedicated vertical for handling Content Operations. Board has authorized the Search and Selection Committee which will be headed by Shri A Surya Prakash, Chairman, Prasar Bharati, to select suitable professionals for the roles of Chief Content Officer and Channel Heads on a contract basis.
The board will look for suitable professionals having more than 15 years of experience in broadcasting with specialisation in news/culture /arts /entertainment/sports and other genres which are relevant to public broadcasting, held leadership roles over the last five years, preferably at a large network with responsibility for one or more channels having nationwide viewership footprint.
The Chief Content Officer will be responsible for content/creative functions and operations across the Doordarshan network (All National and regional channels) in line with the goals/ objectives of Prasar Bharati, while The Channel Heads will manage individual channels in line with the Content and Channel Strategy.
Prasar Bharati is expecting to streamline its content/creative functions of Doordarshan and grow viewership of its channels by inducting professionals into new roles of Chief Content Officer and Channel Heads.
