The order has been notified to promote orderly growth of the sector and o balance the interests of service providers and to safeguard the interest of the customers. The regulator noted that it was necessary to give effect to Tariff Amendment Order, 2020 and Interconnection Amendment Regulations, 2020 without any delay.
The new RIOs are to be reported to the authority by 10th August, 2020 and simultaneously be uploaded on the website. The bouquets and MRP of channels are to be in compliance with the provisions of the Tariff Amendment Order, 2020 and Interconnection Amendment Regulations, 2020.
The turn of events comes 4 months after NTO 2.0 kicked in, which was implemented by the DTH operators and MSOs. The regulator in its direction has detailed the events for the delay from its side and the subsequent reason for it demanding compliance now.
