The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will be shortly unveiling a revamped ‘TRAI Channel Selector’ portal along with the launch of the ‘TRAI Channel Selector App’ on June 25. The broadcasting and telecom watchdog earlier today announced the launch of the application on Twitter. The app will be launched on 25th June at 10:30 AM in virtual mode through video conferencing.
The regulator is also organizing an open house discussion on Consultation on “Framework for Technical Compliance of Conditional Access System (CAS) and Subscriber Management System (SMS) for Broadcasting and Cable Services.
The regulator is also revamping its current ‘TRAI Channel Selector Application” and will be coming with a new portal. The same is likely to be available on 25th June. The TRAI Channel Selector app will be available on both Play Store and App Store.
The revamped portal and new app will also allow subscribers to check their own subscription, complete platform offerings provided by their DTH/Cable operator, modify subscription, and get optimized solution.
The TRAI Channel Selector launched last year is an effective tool for customers to optimize and rationalize the package cost. Given the plethora of bouquets offered by major broadcasters and heavy discounts on bouquet prices vis-a-vis a-la-carte channels, the channel selector app optimizes monthly package cost by suggesting cost effective selection of channels through bouquets and a-la-carte channels.
Is Fastway cable tv customer use this app to change our pack….
Currently no.
Still useless. Make operators mandatory to carry all pay channels and bouquets. Than portals like this will be useful. How can you optimize anything when cable company doesn’t enable the relevant bouquets?
Pay channel thing is a bit tad difficult since carrying capacity varies from DPO to DPO.
That’s why portals like these makes no sense. Why would anyone waste time on channel selection which my provider doesn’t have?
They are trying to have a common portal for customers of various DPOs to add and drop channels. However, this lacks many DPOs currently.
