The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on Tuesday published the list of registered MSOs, cancelled MSOs, and provisionally registered MSOs as on 3rd August which revealed that the I&B Ministry in July granted 15 new licenses to MSOs, apart from the 7 MSO licenses which it has cancelled. YuppTV, an over-the-top content provider in South Asia is the major entity among the 15 who have received MSO licenses.
Bharda Cable Network, Maa Jagadamba, Shiva Cable Communications, Moka Malleshara Cable Network, New Skynet Digital Services, Vijaynagara Cable Network, Digital Cable Network, Induhuamahadev Broadband, World Phone Infrastructure Services, Shree Vitthal Rukmini Cable Net Service, 4K Digital Communication Pvt Ltd, Balaji Cable Network, Multicast Communication and Distribution Limited, Rohin Connect, and YuppTV Digital India have been granted MSO license in July.
The major highlight being the last name in the list. Based out of Telangana, YuppTV a OTT provider is seemingly entering the Cable TV market with MSO license granted on 28th July, 2020 which is valid for 10 years.
Vbs Digital Distribution Network, Sri Shirdi Sai Cable Network, DDNK Media, Ravi Digitals, Sri Ram Digital Cable, and BBN News have had their MSO licenses cancelled.
