Zee Entertainment’s upcoming Punjabi General Entertainment Zee Punjabi which is nearing its launch has revised its a-la-carte MRP 2 days back and now will be available at a higher cost. The broadcaster has notified the new rate of the yet to be launched channel.
Zee Punjabi which was earlier priced at a nominal rate of Rs 0.1 will now be available to subscribers at a revised rate of Rs 3. The MRP has seen a hike of Rs 2.9 or 2900%. The channel, however, will be available for free on DD Free Dish. The channel’s test transmission is already available on the public DTH operator after Zee won a pro-rata MPEG-2 slot at 1.55 crores for Zee Punjabi on DD Free Dish.

The channel’s bouquet packaging, however, remains the same as earlier. The channel will be available in only four bouquets namely Zee Family Pack Hindi SD, Zee All-In-One Pack Hindi SD, Zee Family Pack Hindi HD, and Zee All-In-One Pack Hindi HD.
It is the 12th version of ZEEL’s RIO ever since the new regulations came in. The new RIO will supersede the previous Zee RIO which had signaled the launch of Zee Punjabi.
While the broadcaster has started the promotion for Zee Biskope and Zee Thirai it is yet to start the same for Zee Punjabi which is expected to launch next year in January. The launch is likely to happen on Lohri.
Rohit Tannan, Lead-in Heer Ranjha serial which is to air on Zee Punjabi was quoted as saying “Thank you for always sending me the love that pushes me to keep going. Heer Ranjha is set to release next month on Zee Punjabi. I hope to continue entertaining all of you for the years to come.”
Kulvir Singh Mushkabad, Sarpanch in Foreign Bhabi serial which is to air on Zee Punjabi was quoted as saying, “Nowadays, I and my team are working in the serial “Foreign Bhabi” for Zee TV channel. This serial will begin on Lohri i.e 13th January.“
In October DreamDTH had shared that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had paved the way for the launch of Zee Punjabi by renaming Zee Entertainment’s Big Magic Punjabi license to Zee Punjabi. In November, we covered the confirmation about the launch with the broadcaster releasing a newer version of its Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) which carried Zee Punjabi and the start of the test transmission of the channel on Insat 4-B.
