The year 2013 was special for Bollywood in more than one way. For starters, it marked the 100th year of Indian cinema. It was also the year that broke all previous box-office records and made the once-prestigious Rs 100 crore ( Rs 1 billion) figure look small, with two films crossing Rs 200 crore ( Rs 2 billion) in net collections and another one almost there. While most of these films were star-studded, many non-star cast films also got reasons to cheer. There were a number of examples where the films did handsome business at the box office purely on the strength of content.
